"First Glimpse of Samsung's One UI 6.1 Unveils Enhanced Battery Protection Settings"
Shortly after the rollout of One UI 6, leaks surrounding One UI 6.1 have already surfaced. The anticipated update introduces modifications to the Battery Protection menu, enhancing the available options for Samsung Galaxy users.
One UI 6 debuted with significant changes for Samsung's Galaxy lineup, introducing Android 14 support, UltraHDR compatibility, revamped share menu features, and expanded lockscreen customization options.
While the One UI 6 update is gradually reaching Samsung's recent devices, the company is showing swifter progress, particularly emphasizing budget devices' priority compared to previous years.
As Samsung moves forward, attention has already shifted to One UI 6.1 – set to be the initial update following the introduction of Android 14 on Galaxy phones. Leaked images posted by Tarun Vats on Twitter/X showcase a revamped settings menu page within One UI 6.1, now labeled as "Battery Protection," replacing the earlier "Protect battery" label.
The updated page presents several options designed to preserve the Galaxy phone battery's lifespan, aiming to extend its longevity in the face of increasingly extended guaranteed support periods.
Reportedly, the three new options include:
- Basic protection: Halts charging at 100% and resumes from the charger at 95%.
- Adaptive mode: Pauses charging at 85% and resumes before waking up, akin to Android's adaptive charging.
- Aggressive battery mode: Ceases charging at 80%, bypassing maximum charge, ultimately mitigating battery cell degradation under standard charging conditions.
Details regarding the initial rollout of One UI 6.1 remain undisclosed. The update is expected to undergo beta testing before becoming available to users through an official release.
